Our History – RCCG Word Alive Chapel Boreham Chelmsford
Welcome to the History of RCCG Word Alive Chapel, Boreham Chelmsford
Word Alive Chapel’s history is one of God’s grace, purpose, and divine direction. We are a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a global movement founded in Nigeria in 1952 under the leadership of Pa Josiah Akindayomi, to whom God gave the vision of a church committed to holiness and preparing a people for heaven.
This vision found greater global expression through the ministry of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the current General Overseer of RCCG. Since assuming leadership in 1981, Pastor E. A. Adeboye — widely respected as a humble servant-leader, scholar, and an apostle — has been mightily used by God to expand RCCG across more than 190 nations, including the United Kingdom. Under his leadership, the church has experienced unprecedented growth, spiritual renewal, and the fulfilment of God’s mandate.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG now has thousands of parishes around the world, and we are privileged to be one of them—faithfully serving Chelmsford, Boreham, and surrounding communities with this divine legacy.
Our Journey in Boreham
Word Alive Chapel was established in Boreham, Chelmsford, with the vision of building a Christ-centred community where individuals can grow in their faith, discover their divine purpose, and serve with joy. Since our inception, we’ve aimed to be more than a Sunday gathering—we strive to be a spiritual home for individuals and families across Chelmsford and the surrounding areas.
From humble beginnings, our community has steadily grown, guided by prayer, love, and obedience to God’s Word. We have been privileged to engage with our local community through worship, evangelism, youth empowerment, inter-church partnerships, and outreach programmes.
A Legacy of Faith and Purpose
Our church stands on the shoulders of pioneers who were dedicated to God’s mission in the United Kingdom. As part of the RCCG family, we uphold the values of holiness, service, and the power of the Holy Spirit. We continue to inspire lives, raise leaders, and equip believers to shine the light of Christ in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
